The Concept
The idea behind Noctur.nl started long ago, I (DrWicked) wanted to create a newsletter called “The Somnambu-LIST”. Feel free to chuckle at my amazing cleverness while I explain that the basic idea, a list of places that stay open late, was a fairly decent one. Several iterations later, we bring you Noctur.nl, a map-based database of places that are open late.
Philosophy
Noctur.nl is primarily geared towards places you can go to hang out, preferably with friends, so you’ll not find grocery stores, pharmacies or drive through places. The scope is narrow enough to keep the database useful and simple enough to keep it usable and uncluttered. We’re adding more filters all the time to help you find exactly the sort of place you’re looking for.
We intend to be a user-edited database in the wiki style so if you see something wrong, we’d love it if you’d help us fix it. There are places in the database with no hours data, if you happen to stop by there please add that information to the database. Post a review via Twitter. We’re always growing and always improving.
Things to Consider when Adding Places
We are mainly looking for places that are open late. “Late” is, we know, a relative word; to be more specific, we are mostly interested in places that are open later than 9, when most places close. Feel free to add other places; they will exist in the database, but they are not quite as useful.
If you don’t have any new places to add but want to help out anyway, look around for places near you that don’t have hours listed and fill in the hours.
